Final recap

I didn't really plan to reflect on 2016 and make any plans for 2017 but looking at the posts of others I have changed my mind. I'm joining 2017 Planning Linky Party.

My plans are simple. I will continue to share my love for rainbows and scraps. I would like to sew and blog more often this upcoming year. Finishing some of my UFO projects would be also essential.

Plus I would like to use patterns which I already have and never used. I have quite a few in paper form and as pdf files as well.

My word for 2017 would be love. I wanted to choose it anyway and when the word game on IG confirmed it there is no need to search for any other. I might start with this UFO project as it fits perfectly.

Happy New Year to all!

Scrappy fabric stars

I decided to make some stars for teachers this year. The tutorial is called Scandinavian Fabric stars but mine are rather scrappy.

I made just one as trial and I got it wrong. My ends were not perfectly hidden but after posting photo on IG I figured it out and made few more.

They are pretty fun but their non matching look makes me a bit nervous. They are not staying so I can handle it for little while :)

I'm also making paper boxes for those and little something out of old calendar.

Once all finished I'm back to my usual rainbow self. I have it all ready to go.

Q4 - meshwork cover

Just a little while ago I have finished this cushion cover. It all started on IG as @misterdomestic announced his #misterdomesticwal

Confession to be made. I cannot obviously draw 30 degree lines.

But somehow I made it work. The directions are pretty well written and you can find them here.

I haven't used any extra tool. I waved with large safety pin. It looks great from the distance but the piece was not as tight as it should and I realized that while squaring up.

I have added little border and binding.

It is densely quilted.

The back is simple with hidden zipper. You can find this project on my Q4 list here.
I just need to make the insert cushion. Dimensions:16x22"

Rainbow gene

I needed to make this coin purse for a while. It replaces one that I made 4 years ago. It should hold few coins for bus and bus ID card.

The old one was worn out. I asked my girl what fabric I should use for new one. The answer was: rainbow :) Yeah my friends, it seems I passed on the rainbow gene. To buy me some time I asked her to make a sketch.

She helped out with picking up the fabrics and changed her mind where to place the neck string.

On the back side there is vinyl so the ID can be visible. I put zipper there as well since on the old one the vinyl part got all torn up.

I'm pretty happy with the result and so is my girl. We already said goodbye to old one. It served well for sure.

I made the rainbow piece a bit larger so I can use it on one more project. It goes so well with denim ...

WiP

I started quilting the cushion to be. Read more about the plus inspiration here. Not sure if I  manage the deadline for #mmrcushionpalooza but that's not so important.

I started with yellow continued with orange and ended up with red. Yeah, color order is a must :)

I have joined #misterdomesticwal on IG. I tried this technique once without knowing what I was doing so it's cool to finally learn how to do it. There is free pattern on Craftsy.

Plus me and my friend Monika are thrilled that our quilt is in Viewer's Choice in Blogger's Quilt Festival. Thank you all! I'm squealing with excitement!

I'm calling it ours since it wouldn't be as awesome without her quilting. The voting is now open and you'll find tuns of inspiration. Check all the categories. I love this event.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - ROYGBIV

To finish this quilt was on my FAL list for a while. It is my only goal for Q3.
To be honest I was afraid to put the binding on as I feared I'll ruin it. So I have admired the quilting made by my friend Monika until Blogger's Quilt Festival gave me the last push.

ROYGBIV has always been my fav category since I'm sucker for rainbow projects.

My quilt is modified version of Jaybird Quilts pattern Mini Disco. You can read about the making here.

Firstly it was regular size quilt orientated differently but it turned into piece of art so wall hanging it is now. Monika's quilting took it a level up.

She asked me what my fav color is and made the back in it. The texture is fabulous.

No time to look for extra photo shoot spot so the corn field and our fences will do the job. It looks weird with the light coming through but I like it anyway.

I have to admit I have no mixed feeling with this one. I just love it! The perfectly mixed colors and amazing quilting. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at it. I might be puking rainbows forever.

Scrappy pouches

I finally finished these pouches. You could see the panels here.

My fav part is the color thread and no seam at the bottom.

The back side is just plain decorated with the thread.

The second pouch is just quilted in different direction. Not so densely.

With scraps on both sides.

Simple but pretty cute :)

Last pic with the one I previously made out of these scraps.

Plus I took a pics of the jewellery I made while ago. So Laura does it still look like garden hose? :-D
